Gemini Film Circuit has the rights for the Tamil and the Telugu version of ‘3 Idiots’. The superstar Vijay is to play the lead in the film in the Tamil version. However, the production house has yet to finalize the lead female for the Tamil flick. Some days ago, there were rumours or news, whatever may you call it that, Katrina would get the lead role.
However, as of now, it will be not be Katrina in the lead role. According to her, the reason for her backing off is her dates. Katrina is on a role these days and her movies with Akshay Kumar getting good reviews. Kat-Akki is a pair many have adored. On face, Katrina does not really have dates.

Ash prevented Katrina from travelling. This ash is not Aishwarya Rai, but here ash means ‘ash’- literally. Katrina should have been London for a private family function. However, the volcanic eruptions in Ireland, had almost thrown all of Europe out of order in terms of air traffic. ‘3 Idiots’ has done it big in Hindi and Gemini Films Circuit has purchased the rights of the same film to be remade in Telugu and Tamil. There were some big names like Suriya, Madhavan, Vijay, and Jeeva for the popular roles of the 3 idiots. However, it is Ilaya Thalapathi Vijay, will play Aamir in the Tamil remake.
Now, speaking about the female role which was played by Kareena – Piya. Many South Indian actresses were willing to go for the coveted role. However, the production party had some other ideas and instead went for Bollywood heartthrob Katrina. But as a matter of fact, Katrina is so busy with other engagements already, that she hardly had dates for the Tamil version. If the news is to be believed, the producers will have to scour for another heroine.
